NUS-USI President Robert Murtagh has that it would be a despicable move to suspend parliament to try and force a no-deal Brexit.
Robert Murtagh said: “Any effort to suspend parliament to force a no-deal Brexit upon the UK would be an absolutely disgraceful manoeuvre.
“If anyone attempts to subvert parliamentary democracy to try and push a no-deal Brexit it would be a signal of how low some are prepared to stoop to push their anti-EU agenda upon others, gambling with the future stability and prosperity of NI.
“Such a development could be devastating for Northern Ireland and could leave people here and across the UK powerless in stopping a disastrous no-deal Brexit. Attempting to have parliament suspended to steamroll through a cliff-edge no-deal would be absolutely despicable.”
