He said: “I want to express my solidarity with all healthcare workers that are taking industrial action. I fully support this strike action and the demands for pay parity with the rest of the UK and safe staffing levels.
“There are just under 2,800 unfilled nursing posts within the health service in Northern Ireland. This is unsustainable. Healthcare workers deserve to work in safe conditions, and patients deserve a well-funded system. Investing in healthcare students and ensuring pay parity is vital to safeguard the future of the NHS workforce and reduce healthcare inequalities across the country.”
